Mothering Wildlife
Telling the stories of moms who work in zoo, wildlife, vet, and conservation organizations. Working with wildlife brings a unique set of challenges for working mothers. Join me weekly as I interview moms working primarily in the zoo field as we discuss their journey as moms, navigating the mental, emotional, and often physical challenges that come with caring for wildlife and caring for kids.

Mothering from 50 Miles Offshore is a Whale of a Good Time with Naturalist Julie Taylor
Join me this week as I talk to Julie Taylor, a naturalist who spends most of her days on a large boat interpreting wildlife off the coast of Maine. We talk about the challenges of trying to find the balance between work and home and how having a great support system at work, especially when you work with other parents, can relieve some of that anxiety. Children often give us a different perspective of work/life balance. It can be hard to scale back and change your own personal expectations of how much time you can dedicate to work after a child; especially if your job is one that you put a lot of time and effort into pre-kid.
